Breckenridge | Elopement | Laurie + Dan
Hi. Hello. Howdy. It’s me, Colorado Kate. I have been such a slacker on blogging, per my previous post but here I am. Today’s blog we are going to take you back in time to the fall of 2020….
Laurie and Dan are from Georgia and decided they wanted to get married via eloping in Breckinridge, Colorado. Besides the fact, Breckenridge is an absolutely stunning backdrop, and besides the fact they had never been and it would be quite the adventure, mostly they decided to elope there because Breckenridge is Dan’s last name. I loved their reasoning for this and I absolutely supported their solid reason to elope in Breckinridge and I was willing to do anything to make their Colorado wedding perfect for them.
If you have ever read or filled out my questionnaire you will notice I ask you if you like “The Office or Parks and Recs?”. This is my favorite question for a lot of reasons, this answer ALWAYS gives me a great insight into a couple. Laurie very enthusiastically chose “The Office.” We bonded over our love of The Office and recited scenes back and forth. I offered to dress like Meredith on “casual day” but oddly they did not take me up on my offer. Since they were from Georgia and didn’t know what locations they wanted, my daughter Sienna and I took an adventure day and toured Summit County taking photos of all their options they could elope at, from Loveland Pass to Sapphire Point, and then all the way to Blue Lakes. They chose Blue Lakes and for dang good reason!
Their wedding date was October 20, (10-10-20), arguably the BUSIEST wedding day of the year, but when you adventure up to the mountains and hone in on some of the great outdoors and adventure, you would never ever know as people were scarce. Do you know what wasn’t scarce that day? Love and laughs. I love when I am able to photograph a little ceremony and the couple is so undeniably in love and so focused and in tune with each other, they don’t even know I’m there capturing it all, and I always feel so damn lucky to witness it. And that was exactly how it played out.
This perfect elopement ended with a trophy. Laurie and Dan awarded me with the Dundie Award of, “Flashiest Photographer” with music and everything. This award is the most treasured award that I keep in my office. I tried to mount it to my car dashboard, but it was too big. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I truly feel damn lucky to have this job and meet the most phenomenal people out there.
