Ultimate Colorado Backyard Wedding | Julie + Will| Fort Collins Wedding
Julie put a post on our local photographer group looking for a photographer and said, “It will be the best backyard wedding ever. Food trucks, bouncy castles and tons of kids!” This sounded like a dream so I put my name in the bucket, but with the mad talent in that group I didn’t figure I would be picked. Julie is a phenomenal photographer herself and when she reached out I cried. I met her and Will at a coffee shop and I fell madly in love with them. They were so sweet, talented and caring people. I loved the way that Will’s eyes just lit up when he looked at her. When I told her how great I thought her photography was Will very enthusiastically exclaimed, “Isn’t she the best!! She’s so talented!” Ugh these two just had me grinning in happiness from ear to ear. As the meeting ended, they mentioned that they were going to meet with another photographer and I super coolly said, “Oh…okay….but please PICK ME! I LOVE YOU GUYS PICK ME!!!!!!!” I love them and the rest was history.
Will and Julie are phenomenal people. They are teachers, musicians, photographers, and just wonderful good hearted people. Will was actually Julie’s older brother, Kevin’s friend growing up. They all went on their separate ways and then Will ran into Julie’s sister Katie later. Ask Katie about it, she will bust out the hand puppets to reenact the conversation, but after all that time, Will still was crushing on Julie and unbeknownst to him, Julie was also crushing still on him. This is the sweetest love story of all time.
The day of the wedding I arrived at Julie’s parent’s home. I was 100% convinced they had a professional landscaper. The garden and yard were absolutely breathtaking. I found it very fitting that they asked Juile’s brother and Will’s friend Kevin to marry them. They said the most meaningful vows and then sang a duet. (I totally wasn’t crying…it was dust and pollen…I swear). And can we please talk about this amazing beautiful flowy dress? It’s a one of a kind because Julie actually MADE IT herself! (Did I mention how talented they are?? For real! I can’t even sew a button on a shirt.)
We moved over to Will’s father’s house for a backyard reception. There was a to die for food truck there, a beautiful tent and dance floor and most importantly a jumpy castle for the kids. Also the garden there was amazing. Will’s step mother is a horticulturalist at CSU and so everything was so beautiful and colorful and perfectly laid out. Everyone was having a blast dancing. At sunset the sky put on quite the show for us and epic moments were captured.
This was the most EPIC backyard wedding I have ever been to with family and friends laughing, coming together and the happiness there was absolutely contagious. If I could, I would relive this day over and over. Cheers to Julie and Will.
